MSBR Celebrating Black History Month with a Spotlight on Dormaim Green, member of the MSBR DEI Committee.
In honor of Black History Month, MSBR celebrates the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of Black real estate professionals who continue to shape our communities.
Meet Dormaim Bomwell Green, REALTOR® since 2009. After her own experience buying her first home wasn't a positive one, she was inspired to become an agent so she could help others achieve their home ownership dreams. It's the joy her clients experience when they've purchased or sold their home that keeps her going.
Dormaim was the first black female real estate broker in Dorchester County, the first to own commercial property on Poplar Street and the 1st Black President of the Mid-Shore Board of Realtors. In addition to her real estate career, she volunteers her time with the Elks Lodge in Cambridge and works with the Groove City Trekkers, a local Cambridge group associated with GirlTrek, a public health nonprofit that promotes healthy living for African-American women and girls.
Her advice to others in the real estate industry or those considering it as a career - "Don't get into real estate just for the money. If you can't treat others fairly, don't do it. If you can't be inclusive, don't do it. You have to be passionate about what you're doing and the service you're providing others."

More on Land Scams How can these scams be prevented?
Let’s start with the listing agent. If the listing agent receives a call from the “owner” of unimproved land, which is not encumbered by a mortgage or deed of trust, and the “owner” asks to list the property for less than market value—those are red flags.
The best practice for the buyer’s agent is to use a trusted MSBR title company. These can be found on the MSBR website. Title companies routinely conduct settlements where one of the parties is in another state or country. Title insurance underwriters have agents and offices around the globe and will have procedures in place to verify the identity of the “seller” and to ensure that all documents are duly and properly notarized. The title company—not the seller—is in charge of selecting the notary and conducting the settlement.
