The Non-QM world is often misunderstood by Loan Officers and for realtors it really is like a foreign language. The Urban Institute in 2019, estimates that 34% of all settled loans that year were Non-QM type loans. As our world changes, Non-QM loans provide opportunity for a myriad of people who don’t fit in a traditional (QM) “mortgage” box. Although still considered “niche” loans, they provide many non-traditional income borrowers the opportunity of home ownership.
